New Construction HVAC for Green Country Builds
Designed Right From the Start
Getting the HVAC system right during new construction saves thousands in energy costs, comfort problems, and retrofit work down the road. HVAC Design and Installation for New Builds
A new construction HVAC system isn’t something you pick off a shelf. It has to be engineered for the specific building: its square footage, ceiling heights, insulation values, window count and orientation, number of floors, and intended use. A properly designed system keeps every room comfortable, runs efficiently, and lasts. An improperly sized system cycles too frequently, struggles with humidity, wastes energy, and wears out faster.
Cool Down handles the complete process for residential and light-commercial new builds under 25 tons. That includes Manual-J load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork design and fabrication, rough-in, trim-out, and final start-up testing. We coordinate directly with the GC to stay on schedule and meet inspection timelines.

Signs You Need a New Construction HVAC Specialist
Building a Custom Home
Custom homes deserve a custom HVAC design, not a one-size-fits-all approach. We size and design the system around your specific floor plan, insulation package, and comfort preferences.
Adding a Major Addition
A significant room addition often requires extending or redesigning the existing duct system and potentially upgrading the equipment. We evaluate whether your current system can handle the added load.
Commercial Tenant Build-Out
Restaurants, offices, retail spaces, and churches each have unique HVAC demands. We design light-commercial systems under 25 tons for new build-outs and tenant improvements.
Builder Needs an HVAC Subcontractor
We partner with residential and commercial builders as the HVAC installer. We show up on schedule, pass inspections, and communicate directly with the GC throughout the project.
Converting a Space to a New Use
Turning a warehouse into offices or a barn into a workshop requires HVAC designed for the new use case. We handle the load calculations and system design for conversions.
New Construction HVAC Services We Provide
- Manual-J Load Calculations
We calculate the exact heating and cooling load for the building based on square footage, insulation, windows, orientation, and climate data. This ensures the equipment is properly sized, not just guessed at.
- Ductwork Design and Installation
We design the duct layout to deliver balanced airflow to every room. Proper duct design prevents hot and cold spots, noise issues, and efficiency losses. See also our duct installation and repair services.
- Equipment Selection and Installation
We help you choose the right equipment for the building’s needs and budget. As an American Standard dealer, we offer reliable, efficient options, and we service all major brands.
- Zoning System Integration
For multi-story homes or buildings with different comfort zones, we design and install HVAC zoning systems that let you control temperatures independently by area.
Benefits of Getting HVAC Right in New Construction
Avoid Costly Retrofits Later
Fixing HVAC problems after the walls are closed is expensive and disruptive. Doing it right during construction avoids those costs entirely.
Maximum Energy Efficiency From Day One
A properly sized, well-ducted system runs at peak efficiency from the first day you move in. No wasted energy, no oversized equipment cycling on and off.
Even Comfort in Every Room
Balanced duct design and correct equipment sizing mean consistent temperatures throughout the building. No hot upstairs, cold downstairs, stuffy back bedroom.
Smooth Build Schedule
We coordinate with your GC and show up when needed for rough-in, trim-out, and start-up. No delays, no missed inspections.
What the New Construction Process Looks Like
Step one is a plan review. Send us your architectural drawings or have your builder connect us early in the design phase. We review the plans, calculate the load, and propose equipment and duct layout options with pricing.
Once approved, we schedule the rough-in to match the build timeline. Ductwork and refrigerant lines go in after framing and before insulation and drywall. After the walls are closed, we return for trim-out: setting registers, connecting thermostats, and mounting equipment. Final step is start-up and commissioning, where we test airflow at every register, verify refrigerant charge, and confirm the system operates to spec. We walk the homeowner or property manager through the controls and maintenance requirements before handing over.

AC or furnace down? We answer around the clock for urgent calls across Green Country.
When should I bring in the HVAC contractor during a build?
As early as possible. Ideally, during the design phase, before framing begins. This allows us to optimize duct routing, equipment placement, and avoid conflicts with other trades.
Do you work with builders and general contractors?
Yes. We partner with residential and commercial builders throughout Green Country. We coordinate directly with the GC and work within the build schedule.
Do you handle both residential and commercial new construction?
Yes. Residential homes and light-commercial buildings under 25 tons. See our commercial HVAC services for more.
What is a Manual-J load calculation?
It’s an industry-standard calculation that determines the exact heating and cooling capacity your building needs based on its size, insulation, windows, and local climate data. It prevents oversizing and undersizing.
Can you add zoning to a new build?
Absolutely. Zoning is easiest and most cost-effective when integrated during new construction. See our zoning systems page for details.
